We would like to draw your attention to the fact that a new repayment moratorium is available from 1 January 2021 pursuant to Act CVII of 2020 (‘Moratorium 2 Act’).

The Moratorium 2 Act provides for a deferral of payment until 30 June 2021 in respect of the principal, interest and fee payment obligations that may arise from credit facility agreements or loan agreements or financial leasing agreements already disbursed under contracts which were in effect at 24:00 hours on 18 March 2020.

All our domestic clients are entitled to the repayment moratorium – with the exception of entities or persons subject to the legislation specified in Section 39 of Act CXXXIX of 2013 on the Hungarian National Bank – without having to certify that they meet the eligibility requirements or to submit specific request for availing the moratorium benefit, except as follows:

As specified under the Moratorium 2 Act and extended by virtue of Government Decree No. 637/2020 (22/ XII), those who availed the repayment moratorium in effect until 31 December 2020 (Moratorium 1) are entitled to the extension of deferral of payment under Moratorium 2, without any further action to be taken.

Those who previously did not take advantage of Moratorium 1 in respect of their principal, interest and fee payment obligations due in December 2020 (or the last month preceding the end of the year), are obligated to make a written statement to Eximbank Plc. in advance about their intention to enter Moratorium 2 in effect from 1 January 2021.
