Our two institutions at the international forum on sustainable financing organized by MNB and CASI

Our senior environmental expert, Ádám Csécsei, participated in a joint event organized by the Hungarian National Bank (MNB) and CASI (Capacity-building Alliance of Sustainable Investment) in Budapest, where he shared our experiences on the risk aspects of green lending during a panel discussion.

A professional consultation with around 30 international experts was held on the development of an incentive system for sustainable financing and the mitigation of risks inherent in green financial instruments. The main topics included the financial challenges of climate change, practical solutions for green financing and opportunities for reducing systemic risks.

Our expert, Ádám Csécsei, represented our institution as a guest speaker at the panel discussion entitled “Assessing the effect of green credit on risk-taking of commercial banks.” During the program, he presented the performance indicators of our green financing practices, which take into account financial, environmental and social aspects, such as emission reduction, energy efficiency improvement and supply chain sustainability. He emphasized that our support for the green transition begins where private financing alone is not yet sufficient, while adhering to the principles of responsible lending.

For us, a sustainable financial approach is a strategic mission: we focus on key factors in green financing, such as rigorous due diligence and integrated ESG risk assessment. We are committed to putting sustainability into practice. To avoid greenwashing, we build on three principles:

  1. Compliance according to green definitions and taxonomy to ensure that green classification is based on objective, scientific grounds.

2. Risk-based approach: ESG criteria have been incorporated into our credit risk assessments.

3. Independent assessment and monitoring: Our Green Financing Framework is certified by an external independent party, and our monitoring process ensures that the transactions we finance are sustainable in the long term.
